By providing relevant information and knowledge, skills and attitudes, the study of Social Studies prepares students to be active, responsible, and reflective members of society. It also teaches students to address societal and global concerns using visual literacy, primary and secondary sources, technology and other community resources.

District 204 requires 2.5 years of Social Studies before graduation, however, most four year colleges/universities require 3 years of Social Studies for admission.
